Two quick thoughts that can make you more effective at work

Summarize decisions in post-meeting emails

Have you been in a meeting where everyone seems to have forgotten the consensus you thought you'd won last month?

Of course you have.

End your meetings with an explicit statement of the decisions you've made, and follow up the meeting with an email to all attendees memorializing those decisions.

If you don’t get documented buy-in, blame yourself if people block you later.

Use RACI or something like it

The RACI model can also help with this. It stands for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed. It’s a simple way to make it clear who does the work, who reviews the work, who has to agree with the way it’s being done, and who has to know about it.
